That depends of the swimmingpool. The german one looks like an olimpic swimmingpool, so universitarian boys go there to make exersice.
On Spain we have booth types os swimmingpools, if you go to the campus, you will see the same: boys making excersice. If you go to town, you will see children playing :)
I like your blog, it's fun to read! I also like to compare German and American habits, it's quite interesting..
As for the pools I think most of the public swimming pools have several different pools, like one for the kiddies to play in and one for the people who want to exercise, just like Sebastián said.
Unrelated to your post...Wow, you are making me feel so much better about my allergies! I'm sorry you suffer so much. :( I will have to look up that elbow cream. Intriguing!
The purpose of this blog is to handle all the interesting comparisons I've made between American and German culture as I've been living in Germany. Expatriate life is fascinating. I love, love, love, love, love Germany, German, and Germans!
If you have a question about Germany that I haven't posted about, leave a comment with your website or email address and I'll contact you ASAP.
