Did you know what are called bruised or "black" eyes in English are called "blue eyes" in German?
How does that make sense when people like me have blue eyes all the time?

AH HEAL UP! Blue eyes does make more sense then a black eye... since it is usually blue!
In spain we say "Ojo morado" (purple eye)

Yes, unfortunately that was me after nasal surgery . . . it sure made for a lot of good jokes.
And what happened? If can I ask...
And "black and blue marks" or bruises are just "blaue Flecken" - blue marks - in German.
