If you want to spot American tourists in Germany, just look for the guy wearing shorts and flip flops or running shoes, and the girl with straightened, highlighted hair and makeup. They'll also be talking more loudly than anyone else in the near vicinity.

Their kids will be wearing colors in very modern combinations like purple + aqua + fuchsia. :) I've often identified Americans in HD by their kids' clothes first!
Okay, it's true -- I do straighten my hair, but I have also gotten layers put in! Although I cannot bring myself to get purple highlights. Even the third-grade girls in our German village have streaks of highlights, in all fairness!
I guess I should change that to say "blonde highlights." Germans seem to have every other kind of color highlight covered . . .
The cap, the hair, the slippers, the make-up, the loudly speech. hehe, sounds like those Korean who live in China.
When you spot your people, would you say hi?
I don't think just because we have a passport from the same country is a good reason to stop a stranger and say hi. I like to keep my distance and laugh at our quirks.
If you want to spot German tourists in America, just look for the guy wearing sandals and socks and short trousers, and the girl with more-coloured, highlighted hair and no real eye brow but a tiny doodled-on brow wearing 7/8-Hosen. They'll also be talking more loudly than anyone else in the near vicinity. And they will point with their fingers. And they will carry Taschentücher in their bagpacks :)
So true about the eyebrows and the Taschentücher!
