*Toastbrot*

I'm sorry. I will never, ever, ever understand how Germans can go on and on about how American bread is so horrible--"so soft and full of nothing so that I can squish it all into a ball smaller than my fist"--and yet they only make toast with the worst bread you have ever seen.

Worse than Wonder Bread.

I introduce "Toastbrot" to you:

Toastbrot

(This brand couldn't even think of anything better to say than "yeah!")

Yeah. I don't get it.

I don't beleive that all breads are like that the one on the photo in Germany xD

Hi Sebastian, of course not all breads are like that one. That's just bread used for toast, though I think the normal bread in Germany is awesome for toast or anything else. Mmm, yum!

Most of the breads are exactly like that -- and aptly named "Toastbrot" because while they make good crunchy toast, they make.... crunchy sandwiches, too. Ewwwww. And why does the bread have no heel, ever??? I suspect they make a 20-foot loaf and just saw off sections of it.

I have to agree that most German bread is far superior to most American bread. But I never ever grew fond of Graubrot. Yeasty, bitter shoe leather just isn't my thing. (plus, after eating Brot two meals a day for a solid year, I just have no love for bread of any sort whatsover. Can you say OD?)

stop being mean to german bread, german bread is AWESOME!!!
Or lets say 99% of german bread is absolutely awesome and 1% is designed for toasters and crappy, but that's only for people who can't afford better bread... At least that's my opinion...

Naah... German Brot is not what we see in the picture! "Toastbrot" is only made for toasting it, you do NOT eat it the way it comes :(
igitt-igitt.

Go to a real bakery and buy some real Brot. Mischbrot. Oder Graubrot. It looks brown from the outside and greyish from the inside. It taste a bit sour-ish (because of the Sauerteig).

By the way: Germans don't do "Sandwiches" with salad and cheese and ketchup and chicken-breast and tomatoes and and ... No. They put only some butter and ONE slice of cheese on their Brot. Ta-daaa!

;)
